The International Journal of Bioinformatics and Artificial Intelligence (IJBAI) publishes high-quality scholarly manuscripts based on rigorous scientific research, computational analysis, empirical investigation, and interdisciplinary studies related to bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, computational biology, healthcare technologies, data science, and emerging digital systems. Important Notice

Authors are strongly encouraged to use the official IJBAI manuscript template and remove sections that are not applicable to their submission type. Manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the journal’s Online Journal System (OJS).

Manuscript Basics

IJBAI accepts manuscripts written in English. Submitted articles must demonstrate originality, clarity, methodological rigor, technical accuracy, analytical depth, and meaningful scientific contribution to the fields of bioinformatics and artificial intelligence. Areas may include machine learning, deep learning, computational biology, genomics, biomedical informatics, robotics, healthcare technologies, data science, cybersecurity, intelligent systems, biotechnology, and digital transformation.

1. Article Title

  • The title must use Capital Letters at the Beginning of Each Major Word.
  • The title should be bold and centered.
  • Recommended font: Calisto MT, 20 pt.
  • The title must not exceed 15 words.
  • Titles should clearly reflect the focus, innovation, and originality of the study.

2. Authors and Affiliations

  • Author names should be written without academic titles or degrees.
  • Authors should be listed as: First Authorᵃ, Second Authorᵇ, etc.
  • A maximum of 8 authors is permitted per manuscript.
  • Interdisciplinary and international collaborative research is strongly encouraged.
  • Affiliations must follow the superscript format (ᵃ, ᵇ, ᶜ).
  • All authors should provide ORCID iDs where available.
  • One corresponding author must be designated using an institutional email address.

3. Abstract

The abstract must:

  • Be written in EB Garamond, 14 pt font.
  • Not exceed 250 words.
  • Be clear, concise, and free from citations or footnotes.
  • Accurately reflect the entire manuscript.

The abstract should include:

  • Research purpose
  • Main problem or research question
  • Methodology, computational model, or analytical approach
  • Main findings
  • Conclusion and significance of the study

4. Keywords

  • Authors must provide 3–5 keywords, separated by commas.
  • Keywords should accurately represent the central themes of the article and assist indexing and discoverability.

5. Introduction

The Introduction section should:

  • Be written in EB Garamond, 14 pt font.
  • Review at least five recent and relevant scholarly studies.
  • Explain:
  • Research urgency and significance
  • Literature gaps and limitations
  • Novelty and scientific contribution
  • Research objectives and questions

The language should remain clear, scientific, academic, and accessible to an international readership.

Citation & Reference Requirements

  • Footnotes and references should follow the Chicago Manual of Style (17th Edition, Full Notes & Bibliography).
  • Authors are encouraged to use reference-management software such as Mendeley or Zotero.
  • Manuscripts should include at least 30 scholarly references, with the majority published within the last five years.
  • Footnotes may include analytical commentary in addition to citations.
  • Minimum manuscript length: 5,000 words, excluding abstract and references.

6. Methodology

The Methodology section must clearly explain how the study was conducted.

For Research Articles, authors should describe:

  • Research design
  • Datasets and data sources
  • Data collection and preprocessing methods
  • Computational models or analytical techniques
  • Software tools, algorithms, or frameworks used
  • Research setting or experimental environment (if applicable)

For Review or Conceptual Articles, authors should explain:

  • Scope of analysis
  • Theoretical framework
  • Scientific, computational, or technological sources used
  • Analytical limitations

The methodology should provide sufficient clarity for scholarly evaluation, reproducibility, and technical verification where relevant.

7. Results and Discussion

This section forms the core analytical component of the manuscript and should:

  • Present findings logically and systematically
  • Compare findings with previous scholarship
  • Highlight originality and scientific contribution
  • Include critical interpretation and discussion
  • Discuss practical implications and limitations where appropriate

Tables and figures should:

  • Be centered and clearly labeled
  • Use high-quality resolution (minimum 300 DPI)
  • Include source information where necessary
  • Present readable charts, diagrams, or computational outputs

Subheadings such as:

  • A. First Sub-Title
  • B. Second Sub-Title

may be used for organizational clarity.

8. Conclusion

The Conclusion should:

  • Directly answer the research objectives or questions
  • Summarize the principal findings without repeating the abstract
  • Highlight theoretical, scientific, and practical implications
  • Offer recommendations or suggestions for future research

The conclusion must be written in paragraph form without bullet numbering.

9. References

References must:

  • Be generated automatically using reference-management software such as Mendeley or Zotero
  • Follow the Chicago Manual of Style (17th Edition, Full Notes & Bibliography)
  • Include valid DOI links or stable URLs wherever available
  • Provide proper citation details for datasets, software tools, and digital repositories where applicable

Reference Requirements:

  • Minimum of 30 references
  • Approximately 80% should be recent journal articles published within the last five years
  • Books, theses, reports, conference papers, technical documentation, datasets, and reputable websites may also be cited
  • All cited works must appear consistently in both footnotes and bibliography

10. Declaration of Conflicting Interests

Authors must include the following statement:

“The authors declare that there is no conflict of interest regarding the publication of this article.”

11. About the Author(s)

Each author must provide a short biography (maximum 150 words) including:

  • Current academic or professional position
  • Institutional affiliation
  • Research interests
  • Major academic achievements or publications
  • ORCID iD or institutional email address

12. Additional Notes

  • Manuscripts must not contain page numbers.
  • All submissions must be made exclusively through the IJBAI OJS platform.
  • No submission or processing fees are charged for standard publication.
  • Charges may apply only for printed copies or special publishing services if requested by authors.
  • Authors bear full responsibility for all intellectual property matters related to quotations, images, datasets, software, algorithms, and copyrighted material.
