Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Bioinformatics and Artificial Intelligence (IJBAI) undergo a rigorous, transparent, and academically grounded evaluation process designed to ensure the publication of high-quality scholarly research. Every submission is initially reviewed by the Editorial Team to verify compliance with the journal’s submission guidelines, publication ethics, formatting requirements, and alignment with the journal’s focus and scope.

Manuscripts that successfully pass the preliminary editorial screening are forwarded for formal peer review. IJBAI follows a double-blind peer-review system in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process. This method helps maintain fairness, impartiality, academic integrity, and objectivity in evaluating scholarly contributions.

Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent experts in the relevant field. Reviewers assess submissions based on several academic and technical criteria, including:

  • Originality and scientific contribution

  • Relevance to bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, and interdisciplinary technological research

  • Theoretical and conceptual depth

  • Methodological rigor and analytical quality

  • Technical accuracy and computational validity

  • Clarity, coherence, and organization of arguments

  • Use of authentic, credible, and up-to-date scientific sources

  • Practical applicability and innovation potential

  • Ethical research standards and academic integrity

Based on the reviewers’ reports and recommendations, the Editor may decide to:

  • Accept the manuscript without revisions

  • Accept with minor revisions

  • Request major revisions and resubmission

  • Reject the manuscript

Where revisions are required, reviewer comments and editorial suggestions are shared with the author to facilitate improvement of the manuscript. Revised submissions may be returned to reviewers for further evaluation when necessary. The final publication decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on reviewer feedback, editorial assessment, and the overall academic quality of the revised manuscript.

IJBAI is firmly committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and research integrity. All submitted manuscripts must be original and free from plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, data manipulation, or unethical research practices. The Editorial Team conducts similarity checks using Turnitin, iThenticate, or equivalent plagiarism-detection software prior to publication. Manuscripts exceeding acceptable similarity thresholds may be returned for correction or rejected.

The scheduling and order of publication are determined by the Editor-in-Chief, considering factors such as the date of acceptance, thematic relevance, issue planning, technological significance, and diversity of scholarly contributions.

Standard Review Timeline

To ensure transparency and predictability for authors, IJBAI generally follows the estimated review timeline below:

Stage / Process Estimated Duration
Initial Editorial Screening (Focus & Scope Check, Formatting Compliance, and Similarity Check) 1–2 Weeks
Double-Blind Peer Review Process 2–6 Weeks
Author Revision and Resubmission 1–3 Weeks
Final Editorial Decision 1 Week
Copyediting, Proofreading, and Publication 1–2 Weeks

The journal endeavors to complete the review and publication process efficiently while preserving the quality, integrity, scientific value, and scholarly impact of all published research.
